It’s the L.A. Marathon this weekend! It’s also the beginning of Daylight Savings Time on early Sunday morning so you will lose an hour and likely wake up cranky all so we can abide by some antiquated WWI-era fuel-saving program.

Heads up - I’m out of town next week so won’t be sending out Mentions. I put a few things I saw in Upcoming.

As always, please let me know if you know of any cool events coming up so I can include them in the Mentions.

Here are some things to do this week:

FRIDAY 3/6:

Noah Klein is the spirit and organizer behind Living Earth, the organizer of many of the music + nature events that I highlight on this newsletter each week. He is a flutist (flautist?) and is kicking off a new recurring flute-oriented gathering tonight at Solarc. Bring a flute, recorder, ocarina, or penny whistle if you have one!

Neon signs are so magical. I love walking by the new one at the Bob Baker Marionette Theater. Curio Club LA is back with a tour of neon artist Michael Flechtner’s studio. Michael will demonstrate how neon artwork is made, and give you an opportunity to create your own bent neon glass forms!

🎶 SUSS at On Joy

I’ve mentioned On Joy a couple times before but it is a DIY backyard music venue in Highland Park abutting the A Line tracks near Ave 50. Ambient lap steel band SUSS is going to play a very special show there, and I want to make sure you get a chance to snag tickets before they sell out.
